"This training has given me confidence that what I am saying is backed by research and by professionals with years of experience. The training just keeps getting better the farther in we go. And I was able to take the marketing section and build my own website... It was so easy once I went through the website module. Now I have a very professional looking website with my teaching calendar embedded."

Cheryl Meadors, Yoga Teacher

"Julie Gudmestad really helps to bring a better understanding to postures and why we should do certain postures first over other moves. Now I feel I can to explain my students why we are doing what we are doing to help them understand the importance of strength-building before stretching."

"The illness-wellness continuum is clear and simple. It helps to know what role I play according to the student or a client in yoga therapy, that this is a different spectrum, and so different depth to go into and what to give them."

"Although this is an online course the warmth and authenticity of all of you beautiful teachers comes across so well that I feel this sense of community despite the miles. Brings a smile to my face as I dive deeper into this journey. Thank you!"

Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions? We got answers! Below are answers to some of our frequently asked questions. For other questions, send us a note at [email protected].

Q. Is there a start and end date to complete the Professional Certification, or can you complete the modules on your own schedule?

A. We do enrollment in cohorts, so everyone can do the mentoring calls at the same time. However, you can progress at your own time, there is no end date. For the Professional Certification, the mentoring and Q&A sessions run over a ten-month period, but if you haven’t completed the course by then, you can continue your studies after that period.

Q. How long will I retain access to the course materials in the course portal?

A. The course materials will stay up in the course portal indefinitely, and your access does not expire.

Q. How long does it take to finish the training?

A. Most people take 12-18 months to complete the material. The best pace of progress to stay current as new modules are uploaded would be 2 hours of online study per week, plus practice teaching in later modules. You can go faster or slower, of course, it depends on what works best for you.

Q. Do I get a certificate at the end of the program?

Yes, for the Certification Track, you get a standalone certificate once you have completed the material and certification steps. The course covers material few yoga teachers master, so the should make you as attractive to prospective studio employers - but even more importantly, you will be able to start your own courses - outside a studio if you prefer.

Q. I'm interested in the Track 2 certification program, but cannot make the in-person training. Will you be offering other options for in-person trainings?

A. Yes, there will be other opportunities to take a similar weekend workshops later. To find out about other upcoming in-person trainings, send us an email at [email protected].

Q.  Is the in-person weekend workshop  included in the price or do I need to pay extra?

A. Yes, the 3-day weekend workshop is included in the course price for the Professional Training, however room and board are not included. You will have the option to choose among different workshop options.

Q. If I can’t make the in-person workshop, can I still pass the Track 2 professional training?

A. Yes. Passing the certification track involves passing a quiz and a teaching test, but it can be done online.

Q. How many YA contact credits does the in-person weekend workshop qualify for?

A. It is a Friday thru Sunday workshop with a total of 15 contact hours.

Q. Are the modules rolled out over time or available all at once?

A. Modules 1-3 are available right away. Each subsequent module is added to your course at 3 week intervals. You’ll get an email notifying you when each new module is ready.

Q. Is this program geared toward teaching courses in larger studios or would it also be useful for solo yoga teachers?

A. The program is suitable both for people who teach in studios and for solo yoga teachers who prefer to rent a space and put their own course on. It's perhaps more suited for the latter, because it caters to an audience that typically does not frequent yoga studios, because the practices are too advanced for them to follow.

That being said, if the marketing is done right (targeting a different audience than the usual studio set), the program can be of great benefit to those teaching in studios as well, in terms of tapping into a market the studio doesn't normally reach.

However, for individual teachers, one of the great benefits of the program is that you gain much greater independence and more options in terms of where you teach, depending on your preference.

Q. For each level, what are the continuing education credits we can claim for Yoga Alliance?

A. Pretty much everything in the program qualifies as continuing education credits with Yoga Alliance - so you'd be covered for several years into the future. The online portion counts as non-contact hrs and the weekends and weekend intensives count as contact hours.

Q. Is this a RYT course recognized by the Yoga Alliance?

A. This is a Specialty course, and Yoga Alliance currently offers no RYT Standards for teaching the populations targeted by this course, i.e. people interested in the wellness applications of yoga, who are not fit or well enough to practice yoga the way it is currently taught in most studios.

But as noted above, the course content qualifies for continuing education credits with Yoga Alliance.
